My dear aspirants! The D-Day, May 25th, 2025, is just 10 days away. The air is thick with anticipation, perhaps a little anxiety, but most importantly, it’s buzzing with the potential of your success. I’m here as your mentor to guide you through these crucial final 10 days for the UPSC Prelims 2025. This is not the time to learn new things, but to consolidate, strategize, and peak at the right moment.
Let’s call this “Operation UPSC Prelims 2025 Peak Performance: The Final 10-Day Sprint!”
Here’s your structured plan:
Table of Contents
Phase 1: Hyper-Focused Revision & Strategic Testing (Day 1 – Day 7)
This phase is about targeted revision of high-yield areas and fine-tuning your exam temperament.
- Subject Prioritization & Rapid Revision (Daily):
- Polity: Revise Laxmikanth like it’s your religious text. Focus on Fundamental Rights, DPSP, Parliament, Judiciary, Emergency provisions, Constitutional & Non-Constitutional bodies. Don’t miss recent amendments or landmark judgments.
- Modern History: Spectrum is your go-to. Focus on the timeline from 1857 to 1947 – key movements, personalities, Governor-Generals/Viceroys and their impacts.
- Economy: Revise basic concepts (NCERTs if you made notes), inflation, banking, fiscal policy, BoP, and recent economic survey/budget highlights (only if you’ve already covered them – do not pick them up new now).
- Environment & Ecology: Shankar IAS/PMF IAS notes – focus on basic concepts, biodiversity, climate change conventions/protocols, national parks/wildlife sanctuaries in news, pollution.
- Geography: NCERTs (XI & XII are gold). Focus on physical geography concepts, Indian geography (monsoons, rivers, minerals), and important map locations (national & international) that have been in the news.
- Current Affairs: Rapidly revise your consolidated notes/monthly magazine compilations of the last 6-8 months VERY THOROUGHLY, and skim through the last 12-15 months if time permits. Focus on government schemes, reports/indices, major S&T developments, international relations, and places in news.
- Previous Year Questions (PYQs) – The Unquestionable Guru (Daily):
- Solve at least 50-100 PYQs of GS Paper 1 daily.
- Crucially analyze the why behind correct and incorrect answers. Understand the UPSC pattern of questioning and option framing. This helps in intelligent elimination.
- CSAT – The Gatekeeper (Daily 1-1.5 hours):
- DO NOT NEGLECT CSAT. Many bright students falter here.
- Practice PYQs of CSAT (especially last 5-7 years).
- Focus on Comprehension, Basic Numeracy, and Logical Reasoning.
- Identify your strong areas to maximize scores and weak areas to ensure you can get qualifying marks. Aim to comfortably score 80-90, not 150.
- Strategic Mock Test Analysis (Day 2, Day 4, Day 6 – Optional):
- DO NOT take new full-length mocks if they demotivate you or if you haven’t been taking them regularly.
- If you do, take them in an exam-like environment (9:30-11:30 AM, 2:30-4:30 PM).
- The primary goal now is NOT to learn new information but to:
- Refine your time management.
- Practice your attempt strategy (how many questions to attempt, how to handle tricky ones).
- Identify silly mistakes and work on minimizing them.
- Build stamina for the 2-hour sessions.
- More important: Thoroughly analyze mocks you’ve already taken. Identify patterns in your errors.
Phase 2: Consolidation, Calmness & D-Day Prep (Day 8 – Day 10)
This phase is about winding down active revision, building mental fortitude, and logistical preparation.
- Ultra-Rapid Revision (Day 8-9):
- Glance through your short notes, mnemonics, highlighted points in standard books.
- Revise lists: National Parks, Ramsar Sites, Important Articles/Schedules, Committees, etc.
- Quickly go through map-based questions and important locations.
- Last quick brush-up of CSAT formulas/tricks.
- Mental Fortification & Health (Daily):
- Sleep: Ensure 7-8 hours of quality sleep. This is non-negotiable.
- Diet: Eat light, healthy, home-cooked food. Avoid junk. Stay hydrated.
- Mindfulness/Meditation: Even 10-15 minutes of deep breathing or meditation can calm your nerves significantly.
- Positive Affirmations: Remind yourself of your hard work and your strengths. Visualize success.
- Avoid Panic Mongers: Stay away from last-minute “expert” advice from too many sources or anxious peers. Stick to YOUR plan.
- Logistics & D-Day Kit (Day 9-10):
- Print your Admit Card (2-3 copies). Check details.
- Keep your original Photo ID (and a photocopy) ready.
- Arrange 2-3 good quality black ballpoint pens.
- Visit your exam center if it’s unfamiliar or at least check the route and travel time.
- Pack a transparent water bottle.
- Plan your D-day attire – something comfortable.
- The Day Before Prelims (May 24th – Day 10):
- VERY LIGHT REVISION ONLY. Perhaps glance at some facts or formulas for an hour or two in the morning.
- NO HEAVY STUDYING. Your brain needs rest to perform optimally.
- Engage in a relaxing activity – light walk, music, talk to family.
- Eat a light dinner and go to bed early.
Key Mantras for these 10 Days:
- Stick to Your Sources: No new books or materials.
- PYQs are Your Best Friend: Understand the trend.
- Revision is Key: Consolidate what you know.
- CSAT is Crucial: Don’t take it lightly.

- Reach the center well in time.
- Paper 1 (GS):
- Stay calm. Read questions carefully.
- Manage your time: Attempt in rounds. Secure easy ones first.
- Intelligent Guessing: Use elimination techniques (only if you’ve practiced).
- OMR Filling: Be extremely careful. Fill alongside or in batches, not all at the end.
- Break Between Papers:
- Have a light snack. Stay hydrated.
- DO NOT DISCUSS PAPER 1. It will only create anxiety. Stay focused on CSAT.
- Paper 2 (CSAT):
